/// Our understanding of sport driving

Unlike the “Sport Mode” or “Sport Setup” of a car, Sport Driving is a driver-oriented program that discusses how an understanding of the vehicle’s construction and driving dynamics can enable the driver to acquire a set of matching vehicle handling methods that will further the vehicle’s sporty performance. The ultimate form of Sport Driving is to become a driver’s driver. The ultimate form of sports driving is to be a race car driver who is racing against the clock, but there is a wide area between the common road commute and the race track: as long as you are driving with an eye to getting to the finish line faster, rather than just driving in the right direction, you are in the realm of sports driving. It’s clear that sporty driving isn’t just about accelerating and stepping on the gas pedal. When absolute speeds are increased, the driver’s observation of the road surface, the handling of corners, and the finesse of the maneuvering all need to be matched with a technical improvement, which confirms the essence of the concept: a driving sport.

In motorsports, the driver is the same as the athlete, and needs a perfect supporting services and training system, PowerDream understands that the fun and risk of sports driving is the same, we provide sports driving training and experience programs, the vehicles used are guaranteed to operate in a sufficiently safe premise, in addition to the necessary safety equipment and measures, professional coaches for you in the explanation at the same time as the maximum possible risk avoidance. In addition, we also support the customization of your private lessons.

Whether you want to become a racing driver or improve the smoothness and safety of your daily driving, a systematic approach to sport driving is a must. Based on our many years of experience at the Nürburgring, we believe that the following elements should be emphasized in a comprehensive sports driving training system:

/// Mindset and security perceptions

In non-competitive environments, drivers should be clear about the risks of sport driving and pursue progress in a gradual manner according to their own abilities. Sports driving can never be learned by being bold and reckless, it requires drivers to have clear milestones, respect the laws of physics, and continuously form a driving mindset and driving style close to the target through theoretical learning and driving practice. Like all athletes, it is very important to know your physical limitations. Combined with the guidance of an experienced instructor, I believe that everyone can significantly improve their sports driving skills.

Before driving a car for real and feeling its handling limits, safety measures are the biggest consideration. At PowerDream, we also prioritize risk education in our training sessions because: proper risk awareness is the greatest guarantee of safety. In addition to this, safety concerns during sports driving can only be fully addressed when combined with vehicle hardware (e.g., hot-melt tires, competition brakes, and roll cage) and driver equipment (e.g., helmets, racing suits, racing shoes, and gloves).

/// Sufficient theoretical studies

Sport driving techniques are stripped down to the latest in vehicle construction and driving dynamics, meaning that driving skills are also updated as vehicle technology iterates, and different drivers using different driving styles can be very fast, and become faster as vehicle technology is updated. Therefore sport driving is not a static sport with standardized answers. Because of this, the learning of relevant theories will become an accelerant to improve the skills of sports driving, sufficient theoretical knowledge can make every subtle driving operation more justified, so that drivers can analyze the feedback of the vehicle driving dynamics and scientifically modify the driving operation, rather than just reckless and disorderly trial and error, which not only makes the learning process twice as effective, but also vital to the safety of driving training.

/// Simulated Driving Assistance Exercise

Since the 21st century, with the development of computer science and technology, simulation driving technology is more and more perfect, and can already play a quite significant role in sports driving contact. Today’s simulation cockpit can basically simulate all the visual elements of the vehicle driving, simulation software physical simulation results with the real world is also very little difference. Therefore, simulation training is very practical for driver selection, as well as the development of sports driving habits of ordinary drivers, which can, under the premise of guaranteeing safety, allow drivers to test more extreme driving conditions and improve basic driving reaction skills. In simulator training, there are no real-world requirements for a driver’s license, and the cost of making a mistake is infinitely close to zero, so it’s also a great way for teenagers who don’t yet have a driver’s license to train. In addition, combining simulator training with real-world driver training can be a great way to get the most out of your training.

/// Real track driving

The actual driving is always the most exciting and thrilling part. It all just begins when the driver opens the door and adjusts to the correct seating position and visibility for sport driving. The sounds, vibrations, forces, images and acceleration feedback from starting the vehicle and driving for real can be overwhelming, but after our training, most people quickly get the gist of the information and try to apply the driving skills they have learned to experience the different dynamic feedback from the vehicle. The complexity of real driving is always fascinating: different vehicle configurations, such as different tire types, or changes in weather and temperature, can have a significant impact on the performance of a vehicle, and the ability of a trained driver to use their driving skills to the best of their ability under different environmental parameters is the greatest joy of real driving. Of course, we also provide our customers with a wide variety of vehicles to choose from, and changing from one vehicle to another is also a must for advanced sport driving courses.
